Since the Iopener only has one ps/2 port, and the keyboard nub is hella hard to use, I sought to find a ps/2 Y-cable. Luckily they had one at the local electronics shop. But to use it with the provided keyboard I would have to mod the keyboard.

It wouldn't work right with an external mouse unless I disconnected the mouse nub circuitry inside the keyboard, but I would hate to waste the usefuness of the nub, in case I ever had to (or wanted to) do without. So I wired in a flip switch.

When the switch is left on bootup, I am using the nub, when it is right, the mouse.

Because the Y-cable I bought was too big to put the safety cover on, I left the cover off. This was a big mistake. I turned the panel up, and it nearly broke off the ps/2 port. The pins were still intact, but the metal pieces that were mounted in the board broke, and I spent a little more nervous time with the soldering iron.
See purple areas of reference illustration.

Oh, and I soldered wires to pins 9 and 10 on the serial port, this is a +5v line to get enough current to run the processor fan (a golden orb clone).
